Losing anything makes one to wonder if we had antagonised the Supreme God, and he punishing us.

That is where I think we are tested.. It is purely up to us whether to be theist or atheist or in between under those conditions. Actually the true follower of god will always be under supervision. We may be given to face extremes of the world and make us learn and strive against the odd, at last, miracle will only be the answer.
